Credentialing Information
Essential Information for Credentialed Ministers
Access all you need to know about credentialing, with resources that cover everything from initial qualifications to ongoing education and renewal.
The following qualifications pertain to all applicants for ministerial recognition:
SALVATION
Testimony to having experienced the new birth (John 3:5) followed by water baptism (Matthew 28:19-20).
BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
Testimony to having received the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues according to Acts 2:4.
EVIDENCE OF CALL
Clear evidence of a divine call to the ministry, evidenced by a personal conviction, confirmed by the work of the Spirit and the testimony of fellow ministers.
CHRISTIAN CHARACTER
A blameless Christian life and a good report of those who are outside the Christian faith (Titus 1:7; 1 Timothy 3:7).
DOCTRINAL POSITION
A thorough understanding of and agreement with our doctrinal position as contained in the Statement of Fundamental Truths.
ASSEMBLIES OF GOD POLITY
A satisfactory working knowledge of the principles, practices, and purposes of the Fellowship through a study of the General Council Constitution and Bylaws and Indiana AG District Council Constitution and Bylaws.
VOLUNTARY COOPERATION AND COMMITMENT TO THE FELLOWSHIP
An active loyalty to our constitutional agreements, a cooperative spirit, and a readiness to seek and receive the counsel of older mature Christians and those in positions of authority.
Credential Levels & Qualifications
Certificate of Ministry
They should demonstrate potential for contributing to gospel work. They are expected to dedicate part of their time to Christian ministry and, as determined by the district credentials committees, continue under the guidance of a pastor or designated supervisor. Applicants must be 18 years or older and actively involved in some form of ministry.
Ministry License
Clear evidence of a divine calling, practical experience in ministry, and a strong commitment to dedicating one’s time to spreading the gospel are required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. This credential must be obtained before progressing to Ordination.
Ordination
Qualifications for Ordination are outlined in the New Testament scriptures (I Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:7-9). They shall be persons of mature Christian experience who are qualified and able to undertake the responsibilities of the full ministry. In addition:
- Applicants must be twenty-three years of age or older.
- Applicants must be a member of the Indiana AG for no less than one year prior to ordination.
- Applicants must hold a Licensed Minister credential for at least two consecutive years prior to being Ordained.

Each credential level for ministers has specific educational requirements, and there are various paths you can take to fulfill these requirements.

No matter which path you choose, we are happy to review your transcripts and inform you of which courses count toward your credentials and which additional courses you may need to complete. The first step in our application process is a transcript evaluation.

- Hybrid of self-directed and in-person instruction

North Central University (or other AG University/College)
Certified - completion of 48 hours, must include 24 hours of Bible/theology courses.
Licensed - completion of 72 hours, must include 24 hours of Bible/theology courses.
Ordained - completion of 96 hours, must include 24 hours of Bible/theology courses.
Pathway
This is a self-paced independent study program that provides the academic requirements for all three levels of credentials.
The program is a subscription-based app that provides the student with access to the entire catalog of courses.

Credential Transfers
Credential transfers must be initiated by the minister through the district/network where their current credentials are held.
